Entrée's around
the table included the Sea Bass, Pork Loin Chops, Filet, and
Lobster. The Sea Bass was melt-in-your-mouth good, the texture was
soft (not chewy), no fishy taste or smell, and EVERYONE at the table
demanded bites.
The Pork Loin
Chops are HUGE at Charlie's. Served with fresh asparagus and over a
bed of home-made mashed potatoes. This portion was served grilled,
and cooked to perfection at medium-well done.

The lobster was a
3 pound monster crustacean, but NOT tough like so many larger
lobsters can be. This was a meal for two, let alone the one guy who
was giving this beast the old college try. All of us tasted the
lobster, and I was forced to even dip it in the accompanying melted
butter sauce. Yummy!

The BEST THING ON
THE MENU at Charlie's is the Filet. It is very difficult to say that
beef 'melts in your mouth' but if that is possible, this steak fits
the bill. Served rare with sides of mashed potatoes and fresh
vegetables, the Filet is a truly special dinner.
At Charlie's it
is hard NOT to have a great time. The wait staff are so attentive
that sometimes it is difficult to tell WHICH of the 3-4 people
serving you is actually your waiter. At most nicer restaurants you
receive good service, but the staff at Charlie's seems to really
care that you have a good time and want to return often. Bravo to
them!
Overall,
Concierge would return almost daily to Charlie's Downtown if we
worked downtown, because the lunch specials are less than $10 and
are the same high-quality meals. Since we do not work downtown we
also highly recommend Charlie's as a regular happy-hour (prime beef
tip stroganoff served nightly for FREE) or date place.
104 KRBE has
utilized the ambience and great food for its morning show 'date
night hookup' on Fridays, coupled with happy hour crowds Friday
dinners are both exciting and delicious.
One last thing,
when dining at Charlie's, ask for a tour of the wine cellar \ dinner
table downstairs, it is very cozy and available for parties and
special occasions.
We highly
recommend Charlie's Downtown and hope you make it there soon! |
