A little bit about me?? Well, I was born and raised right here
in Houston, Texas! My family is Greek and it is BIG! I am the
fourth of five kids and my parents moved to Houston from
Tripoli, Greece in the 50's. I am fluent in Greek and can also
read and write it too...need a translator anyone?? I went to
school for ALL of my 13 years at St. Thomas Episcopal in
Meyerland. Then I went to on to SMU in Dallas for my freshman
year of college. Seeing that my family owns the oldest
restaurant in Houston, (Christie's Seafood & Steaks--- 88
years and counting baby!!) I decided I would return to H-Town
to finish my degree in business. As I was working my way
through school waiting tables and generally managing
Christie's with my family, fate dropped an opportunity to
discover radio right in my lap! I delivered food to a radio
station back in 1995 and was invited into the studio to watch
the DJ work. His name was Paul "Cubby" Bryant and he
single-handedly turned the fire for radio on in my heart!
After that night, I knew that radio was the career path I
wanted to take.
I ended up switching my major to radio-television and getting
a job at KRBE. There I began my radio career. Two years into
being "the phone girl", I had the chance to get on the air and
I never looked back. In 2000, after five amazing years at
KRBE, I was offered a job at Q102 Radio in Philadelphia for
the morning position. There, my name was changed to
"Christie"---don't even get me started on THAT mistake-- and I
spent another three amazing years in radio with Q102's morning
show. Living in Philly was quite an experience and I had a
great time while it lasted. In 2003, a "local radio station"
came calling for this Houston girl to come back home so I
accepted the offer and never looked back. Ryan and I had only
met briefly back in 1996 at a diner in New York City of all
places! We decided to go for it and see how well two Houston
kids can work on a Houston show together. Producer Eric came
to us from Dallas shortly after and the rest is history...well
actually, it is PRESENTLY. :) Ok, so here comes the sappy part
of my note: I really do love what I do every morning. The
hours are early yeah, yeah...and I am always sleep deprived,
sure... but there is nothing better than to work in the same
city where you were raised your whole life and help wake
people up with smiles on their faces!! Thank you for listening
to the show and have a great day!
Oh and of course, I not going to end without giving my
family's awesome restaurant a big, fat plug! Visit our website
